Formations:
Formations are an important part of JROTC, because they are one of the main ways that information gets spread around. There are two types of formations, Battalion and Company formations. Currently, Battalion formations are going to be once a month during Flex Time. They will start at 1:30 and end around 2:30. BATTALION FORMATIONS ARE A MANDATORY EVENT. If you cannot attend a Battalion formation because of other schoolwork, make-up tests, or other prior arrangements with other teachers, you must fill out an Information Form stating why you cannot make it, and get it signed by the teacher that will be spending that time with.
Company formations are going to be a much more loose event. Company Commanders will call a formation when they have specific information to send down to Platoon Leaders and Squad Leaders. Those are NOT A MANDATORY EVENT. They will still be held at the same time, 1:30-2:30 during Flex Time. Please be cognitive of which Formation is being held, because it is imperative for cadets to be present at Battalion Formations.
Battalion Formations are going to be held at Bulldog Field. First the Command Sergeant Major will address the Battalion, take a roll call from Company Commanders and the Executive Officer, and then turn it over to the Battalion Commander. Once the Battalion Commander takes charge, he usually puts the Battalion at Parade Rest, and spreads Information about Classwork, Upcoming Events, and other information regarding the program. After the Battalion Commander finishes addressing the program, he turns it back to the Command Sergeant Major. The Command Sergeant Major will then turn it back to the Company Commanders, who will in turn give it back to Platoon Leaders after spreading any information that they have. The Cadets will then be dismissed by the Platoon Leaders.
